Veteran Writer Yaddanapudi Sulochana Rani Passes Away

Senior Writer Yaddanapudi Sulochana Rani passed away at the age of 78 due to heart attack on Sunday. She was residing with her daughter Sailaja in California in US. She was born in Movva, Krishna district, in 1940. She has had a strong fan following since the 1970s and early ’80s, especially among women.


Sulochana Rani made her writing debut in Tollywood with the 1963 film, Chaduvukunna Ammayilu. She  wrote more than 40 novels. She went on to provide stories for iconic films like Secretary, Jeevana Tarangalu, Bangaru Kalalu and Athma Gouravam etc. Her last notable contribution for films has been Trivikram‘s A..Aa, inspired by her novel Meena, also a film directed by actress Vijay Nirmala in the ’70s. It was thanks to her writings that readers awaited her novel chapters across various Telugu magazines.
