After a 10-year-long career in Television, Mouni Roy is making her big screen debut with Akshay Kumar's Gold. The 32-year-old actress is finally taking her baby steps into the film industry with two big projects. If she has bagged Gold, she will also be seen in Ayan Mukerji's sci-fi Brahmastra. And many are attributing her closeness to Salman Khan as the reason behind her Bollywood stint.

Buzz has it that Salman is giving Mouni's Bollywood career the right push, and that's the reason she has bagged big projects in such small time. And the rumour has left Mouni upset.Mouni, who will play Akshay's on-screen wife in Gold, has rubbished the rumours of Salman playing a part in her Bollywood journey. In an interview to a leading daily, she said that she's hurt that despite having worked in the industry for 10 years and being a Bengali by birth, Salman has been crdited to her landing the role of a Bengali woman in Gold.

"You should actually pose this question to Ritesh (Sidhwani, producer of Gold). Salman Khan has had no role to play in my Bollywood debut; I dont know how these reports emerged and I wonder why anybody would do that for me. Is it so unbelievable that after acting for 10 years and being a Bengali, I can't land a Bengali characters role by myself? It was hurtful. It was my moment, but they took it away from me," she said.

Mouni added that she loves and respects Salman but the actor had role to play in her Bollywood innings. "Let me clarify that I have not got a single call from Salman Khans production house for any role," said Mouni.

Her debut film Gold, which is based on India's first Olympic gold win as an independent nation, is set to hit the screens on August 15.
