After a sabbatical of nearly four years, rani Mukarji is back with Hichki  The film is based on Brad Cohen’s book Front of the Class : how Tourette Syndrome Made Me the Teacher I Never Had. The book was made into a TV movie. It deals with how Tourette’s Syndrome affects the life of an individual who wants to become a good teacher. Rani as Naina Mathur has to deal with a group of rebellious kids from under-privileged backgrounds who get admission into an elite school on quota basis. The students do not like her but slowly warm up as she convinces them that she cares for them

We spoke to Rani who said that all her directors have been great teachers for her. However, she has special fondness for Roshan Taneja who made everything look so simple for a beginner. In our interview, she speaks with fondness about Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan who introduced her to varied facets of acting. She is also a fan of the two Khans with whom she got to work quite early in her scintillating career.

In the younger lot, Rani is a fan of Ranveer Singh, whom she feels is a brilliant artiste. She is also damn impressed with Imtiaz Ali. With Adira growing up a bit, she plans to do atleast one film a year. Hichki is directed by Siddharth P Malhotra and also stars Neeraj Kabi in a noteworthy role. He has seen in films like Talvar, Monsoon Shootout, Ship of Theseus amongst others.
